After the huge gallery of Kauffman Stadium (before and after renovations) we look at one of the most historic baseball stadiums in the history of America. Muehlebach Field aka Kansas City Municipal Stadium aka Blues Stadium. Call it what you like but it was home to the New York Yankees Triple-A franchise known as the Kansas City Blues... the New York Yankees Triple-A Franchise known as the Kansas City Athletics (that's a little joke there)... and the Kansas City Royals as well. Though this ballpark in its two different incarnations (single-deck and double-deck) hosted two Major League franchises in the Royals and Athletics and the Triple-A Blues that gave rise to 3 different Hall of Famers in Phil Rizzuto, Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford... perhaps its greatest memory is of the incredible Negro League talent that came from the Kansas City Monarchs... producing Cool Papa Bell, Ernie Banks, Satchel Paige and #42 Jackie Robinson. That's right! before he was a Dodger... he played here for the Monarchs. It's Jackie Robinson Day. Let's make it a whole week and celebrate with a 53 page massive gallery of this stadium which was built simultaneously by the Osborne Company with Yankee Stadium in 1923.
