Imagine this poor team, brand new and excited to start making a name for itself now
banished to Dodger Stadium playing as an "also-ran". In 1962, the Dodgers averaged
33,000 fans to new Dodger Stadium (setting a record). The Angels averaged
14,000. In 1963: Dodgers - 31,000, Angels - 10,100. 1964: Dodgers - 27,000, Angels
9,000 - 1965: Dodgers - 31,000, Angels - 6,997! What it broke down to is,
out of a 100 slice pie... the Dodgers were getting between 75 to 80% of it...
the Angels 20-25%. 5 years in, the Angels were like a ghost team. |
