Great Central League
Independent / Non Affiliated
The Great Central League really wasn't all that great! In fact, it barely lasted the whole season. With makeshift collegiate ballparks throughout the league, it wasn't easy getting fans to come visit. The Minneapolis Millers even tried to make it go in 1994 with the Northern League's St. Paul Saints playing 7 miles away, the Minnesota Twins playing 2 miles away and the North Central League's Minneapolis Loons playing 3 miles away. Needless to say, they were last out of the 4 in attendance. These ballparks were almost all aluminum collegiate facilities except for Loeb Stadium in Lafayette, the only true "ballpark".
