The North Country Baseball League began in 2015 as the 6 team "East Coast Baseball League". The business model however didn't work and the league changed its name to the NCBL before the season began, cutting two of its franchises as it began the season with 3 home teams and a dedicated road team. Time will tell whether the NCBL will stabilize enough to continue on as the next great indy league, or become another casualty of the world of independent baseball. The Frontier League, American Association and even the Atlantic League all went through their bumps and bruises in their first seasons. The Pecos League did as well and they are now hitting their stride. We're hoping that the North Country Baseball League will be the next big indy circuit to rise above & succeed in bringing quality baseball to the Northeast.
