The Boston Braves played for nearly 50 years in Braves Field… a massive brick and steel undertaking that for its day which was one of the largest baseball parks in the world. Before 1915 however, the Boston Braves played in a much smaller ballpark (and a rather well appointed one at that). South End Grounds was an elaborate and rather unique looking facility with 6 turrets and a doubled decked wooden grandstand meant to showcase the National League team of Boston… the Boston Braves. The ballpark was located right next to the railroad lines and the soot of the coal run trains would often create a cloud around the ballpark. This however provided the transportation to get fans to the ballpark along with streetcars which had stops nearby the stadium.
