The Coastal Plain League is a Collegiate Summer League organization based out of
the Carolinas and Virginia which began play in 1997. The CPL acts and performs
like any minor league system. The CPL utilizes former Minor League ballparks as
well as NCAA baseball stadiums to bring baseball to places where baseball had
not been for years, or has ignored up until now as a possible market. With the
exception of the fact that players don’t get paid, there are no other noticable
difference between this and a true minor league system to the naked eye. |
