(Double A) Gallery of Baseball Stadiums and Minor League Ballparks
The Southern League has been around since 1921 when it was first called the “South Atlantic League”. This SAL is not in any way related to today’s South Atlantic League, as this original SAL became known as the Double-A Southern League in 1964. The Southern League has featured hundreds of future MLB All-Stars as well as future Hall of Famers, with teams & stadiums throughout the Southeastern USA. Every year, a celebration of “old time baseball” resumes at Rickwood Field… the oldest Baseball Stadium in the entire world (1910 – 2 years older than Wrigley or Fenway) as the “Rickwood Classic” is held and players dress up in original uniforms for a “Regular Season Game”.
