The original Alabama Florida League began in 1936 as a Class D Minor League system. It of course, featured the ballparks of Alabama and Florida. After changing the name to the “Alabama State League” for 10 years, the “Alabama Florida League” moniker returned with the addition of Tallahassee. During its final season, the AFL was reclassified as a Single-A organization before suspending operations for good in 1962.
