The Quebec Provincial League was the first Quebec based professional Minor League
since the failed 1924 effort of the Quebec-Ontario-Vermont League. Unlike that
effort however, the QPL was based solely in Quebec. Unfortunately, the Quebec
Provincial League wasn’t much of a success either. In fact, the six team league
only lasted one season. We suspect that much of that was due to the upcoming Canadian
entry into WWII. The league returned in 1948 as an independent system (from
then on in, simply known as the “Provincial League”) but was soon picked
up by Minor League Baseball, serving as a Class C institution from 1951-1955.
