The KOM League was a farm system born at the end of World War II. The league took
advantage of the many beautiful ballparks located around the Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri
border area. While it lasted only 7 seasons, it became one of the more
storied baseball leagues in the United States. Almost all of the ballparks of this
league are still alive and well today, some in nearly perfect condition. While
these franchises produced several good future Major League ballplayers, the
KOM League is most famous for producing Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, who spent
his first professional season playing in these ballparks. |
