The Southwest International League was a Class C Minor League system which began
in 1951 and lasted only two years. The league was a merger of two of the more prominent
Southwest Class C baseball leagues… the Arizona Texas (Mexico) League and the Sunset League. This combined league would utilize 3 different Mexican ballparks as fully fledged
Class C rated ballparks. Unfortunately the league came together at a time when
Minor League systems were starting to feel the crunch of Television and the
loss of patrons, and the league was gone before it had a chance to really get started. |
